THINK LEGAL, VOTE SEGAL
Professional Background: Anne Fisher Segal, JD, brings a background of balanced
temperament, highest ethical standards, and broad legal experience to the Justice of the Peace position.
She was raised in Tucson and attended Ft. Lowell Elementary School, Townsand Junior High, Sahuaro High School and graduated
with distinction from the University of Arizona. She has a degree in journalism and was an editor for the Arizona Daily
Wildcat and worked as a reporter for the Tucson Daily Citizen. She won the Arizona Women's Press Contest as well
as nominations for the Hearst Foundation. Throughout her career, Anne has taken and passed four state
bar examinations -- Arizona, California, Illinois and New Mexico. This means she has undergone the thorough and rigorous review
of state law and procedure to enable her to practice law in each community. In addition, Anne just passed her
comprehensive exams in educational development philosophy and management pursuant to her PhD. If elected, she will
be the only PhD, J.D on the Justice Court bench.
After working in Washington D.C. for Congressman Mo
Udall and Senator Walter Mondale, she attended the University of San Diego School of Law where she was a member of the
Law Review. Anne worked as a San Diego County Public Defender and handled thousands of cases in the California's equivalent
of Justice Court. When she and Robert "Bob" Segal, married, Anne moved
to Illinois and became a prosecutor. During her tenure, Anne instituted numerous programs benefiting the Victim Witness
programs, including the creation of a special waiting room for witness and videotaping children who testified. She also
instituted innovative counseling programs for domestic violence cases. She tried over 40 felony cases and, again,
thousands of Justice Court cases. Missing the desert, Anne and Bob moved to New Mexico.
Anne taught at the paralegal program at Dona Ana Community College and later taught law courses to undergraduates at New Mexico
State University. She then started her PhD in Educational Management and Development.
At the encouragement of friends and family, Anne ran and was elected to be a Magistrate Judge and served for almost five years.
The Magistrates have the same jurisdictional authority as the courts the Pima County Consolidated Courts for Justice of the
Peace. The Court were understaffed and the judges were required to handle tremendously heavy caseloads. Again,
Anne presided over thousands of traffic cases, misdemeanors, small claims cases, as well as DUIs and Domestic Violence
cases. She actively participated in the Drug Court and helped create a mediation program for civil cases. She
was also appointed to the State Supreme Court Committee for the Rules of the Courts of Limited Jurisdiction.
In 2004, Anne and Bob decided that they needed to live closer to their aging mothers and that the school systems
in New Mexico were not sufficient to meet the needs of their children. Anne reluctantly resigned and the family moved
to Tucson. Anne was immediately appointed to be a Superior Court pro tem as well as a Pima County Justice pro tem.
She served as a Justice of the Peace Pro Tem from 2005 until 2008, but was terminated after she announced her
decision to run for JP Court. She continues to serve as a Superior Court Pro Tem. Anne
plans to complete her Phd dissertation in January, 2009. She will receive her degree in June. She is an adjunct
professor at the University of Arizona and continues to teach undergraduates law-related courses. She has taught in
the Department of Journalism, the College of Education and the Department of Communications.

THINK LEGAL,
VOTE SEGAL
Everyone is welcome to help Anne Fisher Segal become the elected Justice of the Peace, Judicial Precinct 1, to replace
Justice Jim Angiulo, who retired due to health reasons. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT
THING YOU CAN DO? It is to exercise your constitutional right to vote. Vote you should, and
vote you must in November. And when do you, think legal, and vote Segal. It was just lucky that Anne married
someone whose last name rhymes with legal. WHAT IF MY SUBDIVISION PROHIBITS A SIGN? Good
news!! You are in fact allowed to express yourself by putting up a political sign for Anne. It is your right to exercise
free speech! The specific law was is under the A.R.S. 33:1808:C. This law 'trumps'
local CC&R's which prohibit political signs. In effect the law allows a homeowner to place political signs on
his or her own property and the CC&Rs cannot be more restrictive than local laws. Think Legal, Vote Segal!!!!

THINK LEGAL VOTE SEGAL
Precinct One for Justice of the Peace extends north of the Rillito River.
To the west, the line is at Shannon Road. At Shannon, the line is then to the county line. The east end is essentially
Sabino Canyon Road, but includes areas up to Catalina Highway as well as Winter Haven and the town of Catalina. Please
support Anne if you live in this area, you can and vote for her.
Dr. Robert Segal has been placed in
charge of yard signs, having done such a wonderful job on yard signs when Anne ran for, and won, Magistrate Judge. If you
would like a yard sign, call Bob at 520 591 9700 or email him at rjsegal@gmail.com. In the unlikely event that you would
rather pound in yard signs instead of playing golf, or puttering in your garage, be sure to give Bob a call.... THINK LEGAL VOTE SEGAL This position requires a
person to demonstrate clear thinking and an ability to work well with the community. It is our People's Court.
Members of the community come to Justice Court without an attorney and with the personal belief that they will have a fair
trial and receive equitable treatment. Although not every person receives the outcome they want or expect, it is critical
that each person feels that the judge listened to the case with impartial consideration. After working for almost five
years as a Magistrate Judge, I know that I have the experience, understanding and personality to serve as your judge.
This position is not a stepping stone, but a final destination for my legal career. THINK LEGAL VOTE SEGAL 2010 Think Legal, Vote Segal 2010 Think Legal Vote Segal, 2010
Voters, please remember to vote in all elections Every vote counts. This election is to full the unexpired term
of Judge James Anguilo, who resigned due to a tragic illness. Anne will be filing for the 2010 election the day after
the primary to demonstrate her commitment to this position. Please sign her petitions now to show your continuing support
for her election to be your Justice of the Peace.
